The vibe

Vedettes Îles d'Or & Le Corsaire links Le Lavandou (year-round) as well as Cavalaire-sur-Mer and La Croix-Valmer (in season) to Port-Cros, Porquerolles and Le Levant. It's the most convenient option if you're based on this part of the Var coast rather than around Hyères.

What to know before you go

Dogs on a lead are accepted free of charge on board the regular lines. The company itself sets out, in its own FAQ, the difference in rules between the islands: on Porquerolles, your dog can move around on a lead on the island, except on the main beaches during the day in summer. On Port-Cros, dogs are only allowed in the village (harbour area), specifically between Fort du Moulin and the Saint-Joseph statue, not on the island's trails — a point the company itself confirms. Certain specific excursions (the Seascope glass-bottom boat, longer wildlife outings) do not accept dogs: check at the time of booking. For category 1 and 2 dogs, a muzzle is required on board.

Coco's tip: if you really want to walk with your dog, choose a simple crossing to Porquerolles rather than a themed excursion to Port-Cros — the "simple return trip" option is more flexible for dogs.

Nearby

Le Lavandou and its long beach make a good stop before or after the crossing.
