The vibe

Facing the Toulon Yacht Club, in the Mourillon area, Anse Tabarly is the city's first purpose-built dog beach. A ramp specially dedicated to dogs for reaching the water makes swimming easy, including for older dogs or ones not fully at ease in the water.

What to know before you go

Access is free and open every day of the year, with no seasonal restriction. It's a swimming alternative to the nearby Mourillon beaches, where dogs on a leash are only tolerated on the Promenade Henri-Fabre (not on the sand).

Worth knowing for the future: according to an interview with Toulon's mayor published in the city's own magazine (Toulon Magazine n°1, May-June 2026), the city planned the Pipady dog beach partly in anticipation of eventually closing Anse Tabarly, which is meant to make way for a future marina/nautical base project. Pipady did open on 1 July 2026, but as of autumn 2026 Anse Tabarly is still in service (the official Mourillon beach regulation still references it): no closing date is known yet, so it's worth checking if you're planning a long-term visit.

Coco's tip: there are no hours to remember here — your dog can swim at any time of day, all year round — but this site could close eventually; the nearby Pipady dog beach is the safer long-term bet if you're unsure.

Nearby

The Mourillon beaches and their long promenade are just around the corner, as is Toulon's second dog beach, Pipady, at the foot of the Tour Royale.
