The vibe

From Plage de Gigaro, the coastal trail enters the Domaine du Cap Lardier, a site listed by the Conservatoire du Littoral where nature has taken back over: scrubland, coves and a stunning view of Cap Taillat and the Îles du Levant at every turn. Allow 4.4 km one way (8.8 km round trip), with the option of pushing on to Cap Taillat for a 13 km loop if both pairs of legs can go the distance.

What to know before you go

Dogs are allowed on a leash within the Domaine du Cap Lardier, and tolerated on the beaches only to cross them. The terrain is of moderate difficulty, with some rocky, slippery sections — good shoes (and good paws) are recommended. The Gigaro car park becomes paid in high season.

Coco's tip: on this rocky, exposed terrain, bring plenty of water, avoid the hottest hours, and remember to check your dog's paws at the end of the walk.

Nearby

La Croix-Valmer and its beaches are nearby, and if you feel like continuing, Cap Taillat offers one of the finest viewpoints on the Var coastline.
