The vibe

Starting at the foot of the Notre-Dame-des-Maures track, wide, shaded and little-used forest tracks lead to the largest dolmen in the Var, a Neolithic megalith listed as a Historic Monument. The route also crosses vineyards and offers lovely views over the Îles d'Or, the Giens peninsula and the Massif des Maures.

What to know before you go

Allow about 9.3 km for the full loop (~3h), or a short 2.3 km variant if you just want to see the dolmen. The path is easy, with a few moderate climbs, and dogs are welcome on a leash. The massif is often closed from 21 June to 20 September depending on fire risk conditions — remember to check before setting off.

Coco's tip: this shaded, little-used walk is ideal for families, but always check massif access in summer before hitting the road.

Nearby

La Londe-les-Maures and its vineyards are just nearby, a good excuse to extend the outing.
