The vibe

Bonporteau is one of Cavalaire-sur-Mer's beaches, with fine sand and easy access from the town centre. During the day it fills up like every beach in the resort in summer — it's more in the late afternoon and evening that it becomes a real playground for dogs.

What to know before you go

Dogs are admitted on leash only from 9pm to 6am, year-round. Outside these hours, they are not allowed on Bonporteau beach — this is the rule applied across all of Cavalaire-sur-Mer's beaches.

Coco's tip: enjoy a moonlit walk on the sand — it's when the beach is calmest, and when you can really let your dog run without a tight leash. If you're there during the day or off-season, the Corniche des Maures loop (see "Nearby" below) remains walkable with your dog at any time: only the beach itself is subject to these hours, not the trail.

Nearby

Cavalaire-sur-Mer's town centre is a few minutes' walk away, with its café terraces and market, handy for extending the walk after the beach. Bonporteau also sits on the route of the Corniche des Maures, a coastal trail that crosses the Fenouillet valley — a protected natural site listed as national heritage, between bamboo groves and holm oaks. A marked loop of about 1.4 km starts from the beach, crosses the forest and comes back above Bonporteau: a nice option for extending the walk with your dog before or after swimming. The Chemin Pierre Foncin car park, on the road above, also gives direct access (distance to be checked on-site).
