Dogs — contradiction on the leash ruleOnly authorised beach in the town; we used to state the leash as mandatory, but the official Nice Côte d'Azur tourist office instead describes a tolerance "without a mandatory leash but under control" outside the summer season (June–October) — no official municipal source found to settle this, so a leash remains the safest choice

The vibe

Part of the Hippodrome beach, in Cagnes-sur-Mer, is reserved for dogs — with the nice bonus of a shower to rinse off the salt and sand after swimming. It's the only option in the town for dog owners.

What to know before you go

Precise location confirmed by two matching sources (including the official Nice Côte d'Azur tourist office): the area lies between groyne 1 and groyne 2, at the boundary with Villeneuve-Loubet. On the leash rule, there's a contradiction: we used to state it as mandatory, but these same tourism sources instead describe a tolerance without a leash as long as the dog stays under control, outside the summer season (June to October) — without confirmation from an official municipal source, a leash remains the safest choice.

Coco's tip: this is a good stop between Nice and Villeneuve-Loubet if you're combining several dog-friendly spots in one day.

Nearby

Plage de Vaugrenier in Villeneuve-Loubet, also fitted with a dog shower, is a few minutes away by car.
