The vibe
An easy 3.5 km walk leads to a turquoise river and an impressive 42-metre waterfall, with a view of the surrounding cliffs. One of the most spectacular spots in the Var to admire with your dog after the walk.
What to know before you go
An important correction to what we previously said: swimming is strictly banned at the foot of the waterfall, by municipal order, with safety fencing installed because of a risk of falling rocks — confirmed by the official website of the village of Sillans-la-Cascade. So this isn't a place to cool off with your dog, only a site to admire from the viewpoint (about 15 minutes' walk). Parking is paid from 1 April to 30 September (9am-7pm, 7 days a week), free the rest of the year. The site can also be visited with a guided tour from the local saffron grower, Yannick Dolmetta, for those who want to extend the outing. A stop at the Chapelle Saint-Laurent is also possible before or after the walk.
Nearby
Lac de Sainte-Croix is only about thirty minutes away, to extend the freshwater outing over the day.
