The vibe

A small wooded canyon with a stream running through it, lined with impressive 80-metre-high red cliffs — a striking, grand landscape that brings Corsica to mind, in the Pays de Fayence. Dogs are welcome on the trails, confirmed by the Pays de Fayence tourist office (paysdefayence.com).

What to know before you go

An important caveat confirmed by the tourist office itself: the Blavet stream often has very low flow and dries up for much of the summer — so it's not the best swimming spot in the area, the site being better known for climbing (Grotte du Muéron). The view from the heights takes in the Estérel massif and the Roquebrune rock — a walk that's mainly worth it for the view rather than a guaranteed swim.

Coco's tip: pair this outing with the nearby Gorges de la Siagne and de la Siagnole for a full day in the area.

Nearby

The hilltop villages of Fayence, Callian or Montauroux are charming for extending the day.
