The vibe

The Gorges du Caramy stretch from the Saut de Cabri at Mazaugues to the Pont de Cassède (often called the "Roman bridge" locally, but actually dating from the 15th century according to its Historic Monument listing, protected since 1937, 30m long) at Tourves, over about 4.5 easily accessible km — on either side of the bridge, several spots are good for shallow-water swimming with your dog (unsupervised swimming, at users' own risk).

What to know before you go

An important point confirmed by the Provence Verte tourist office and Tourves town hall: the main car park (only around forty spaces) closes from 15 June to 15 September — you then need to park at the P1/P2 car parks near the stadium and walk about 2.5 km. The water isn't too cold and you can spot frogs, dragonflies and butterflies — an easy-to-reach site, perfect for a first river outing with your dog.

Coco's tip: before heading off, stop by the Musée des Gueules Rouges in Tourves, which recreates a bauxite mine — original and just around the corner.

Nearby

Lac de Carcès is about twenty minutes away to extend the outing.
