The vibe

Although often called a "rivière" (stream), the Siagne is actually a 42 km river, rising near Escragnolles and flowing into the Mediterranean at Mandelieu. Its gorges, steep-sided and wooded, offer pretty swimming spots away from the bustle of the coast.

What to know before you go

The Siagne notably runs through Mons, Callian, Montauroux and Tanneron — each stretch has its own character, some easier to access than others. The Canal de la Siagne, built to supply Grasse and Cannes with drinking water, runs alongside part of the course.

Coco's tip: the Siagnole, a tributary of the Siagne near Mons, is a bit wilder and less well known — see the dedicated listing for the Pont de Mons.

Nearby

Lake Saint-Cassien, fed by a tributary of the Siagne, is nearby for a more classic lake swim.
