The vibe
Toulon, the Var's large harbour city, has several hotels that accept dogs, especially in the chains found in the city centre and near the station. It's a good base for ranging out to the metropolitan area's many dog beaches (Le Pradet, La Seyne-sur-Mer, Six-Fours).
What to know before you book
Chain hotels generally display standard conditions (a flat supplement, size limits), but it's best to check at the time of booking.
Coco's tip: from Toulon, both Cani Plouf in Le Pradet and Toutou Beach in La Seyne-sur-Mer are under 20 minutes away.

Mont Faron, reachable by cable car, offers a beautiful view over the harbour — dogs are generally tolerated on a lead on the trails.
