One thing to note first

Since 2012, the city of La Seyne-sur-Mer has banned dogs, even on leash, from its Saint-Elme, Sablettes, Mar-Vivo and Fabrégas beaches — under penalty of a fine of up to €150 (confirmed by the city's official website). Toutou Beach, meanwhile, was created in 2022 — ten years after the general ban — as the sole exception: a specially created, clearly marked-off area to let dogs swim despite this general ban.

The vibe

Set just south of the Saint-Elme water-sports centre, this small dedicated beach is large enough to leave room for several dogs at once, in a friendly atmosphere among owners.

What to know before you go

Category 1 dogs are not admitted, and category 2 dogs must be muzzled. The precise hours, confirmed by the city's official website (la-seyne.fr), differ by season: from October to May, 9am-12pm and 2.30pm-7pm; from June to September, 9am-12.30pm and 3pm-8pm, with closure on Wednesdays in summer on fireworks evenings (the area then serves as a staging zone). A bin and a poop-bag dispenser are provided by the town hall — remember to leave the site as clean as you found it so this initiative can continue.

Coco's tip: whatever you do, don't settle on another of the city's beaches thinking "it's the same" — the ban elsewhere is strict and enforced with fines.
