The vibe

On the Promenade des Anglais, right opposite the Lenval hospital, a small stretch of beach is reserved for dogs and easy to spot: it's framed by two large statues by the artist Stéphane Bolongaro. It's one of Nice's two dog beaches, alongside Carras a little further west.

What to know before you go

Swimming is allowed year-round, with no summer ban — a real plus on this stretch of coast where classic beaches close to dogs in summer. Watch out, though, for the category-based rules: category 1 dogs aren't admitted, and category 2 dogs must be kept on a leash and muzzled.

Coco's tip: check your dog's category before coming — the Nice town hall strictly applies this rule on its two dog beaches. In summer, avoid the hottest hours (midday to 4pm): Nice's white pebbles can reach 55°C underfoot — a practical tip rather than an official rule, but worth taking seriously.

Nearby

The Promenade des Anglais is great for a long walk before or after the swim, and the Old Town of Nice with its lively alleyways is just a few minutes' walk away.
