The vibe

Pampelonne is 4.5 km of fine sand that built Saint-Tropez's legend, split between long public stretches and about thirty private establishments (Club 55, Nikki Beach, Bora Bora...). It's Ramatuelle's most iconic beach, and the one offering the most options for an outing with your dog: from the quiet open stretches at either end to the livelier surroundings of the beach clubs.

What to know before you go

The town of Ramatuelle allows dogs on leash on its beaches year-round, with no set hours — unlike other towns in the Var such as Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, where access is limited to early-morning and evening hours in summer. This rule, confirmed by the Ramatuelle tourist office and several specialist dog-travel guides, applies across the whole of Pampelonne bay.

Coco's tip: the two ends of the bay (towards north Pampelonne and towards Bonne Terrasse in the south) remain the quietest, away from the crowds at the big establishments in the middle.

Nearby

The coastal path links Pampelonne to the wilder coves in the area, as far as Escalet and Bonne Terrasse. The hilltop village of Ramatuelle, a few minutes away by car, rounds out the walk nicely with its shaded lanes.
