The vibe

An institution on the Plage de Pampelonne for more than 50 years, L'Esquinade Plage is literally feet in the sand, facing the sea. Family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere, 200 covers including 150 on the terrace: this is the kind of place where you settle in for the day, between a swim and a meal. Dogs are allowed, which isn't so common on this very busy summer beach.

What to know before you go

The restaurant operates in season, from April to October, for lunch and dinner. The beach is private and supervised, with showers, wifi and sunbed/lounger rental on site — handy for combining lazing around and a meal with your dog in the shade. Parking is available on site, but it's best to arrive early in peak summer, as Pampelonne is one of the busiest beaches in the Var.
