The vibe

The Nartuby runs through Draguignan, Trans-en-Provence and La Motte before joining the Argens, offering several waterfalls and natural pools to cool off in. A Himalayan suspension bridge, confirmed by the tourist office (visitvar.com) — 70 metres long, about 30 metres above the river — spans the gorges at Trans-en-Provence, as part of the "Boucle panoramique du Calant" (1.5 km from the village centre, returning via the Pont de la Motte), free access all year round.

What to know before you go

Unlike the big Verdon lakes, the mood here is more intimate and wild — perfect for a dog that prefers small, calm streams to large, busy expanses of water.

Coco's tip: the suspension bridge gives an impressive view of the water below — be careful if your dog isn't keen on heights.

Nearby

Lac de Carcès is about twenty minutes away to extend the freshwater outing.
