The vibe

Between Monaco and Menton, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin reserves a section of the Golfe Bleu beach for dogs, at the western end, not far from the train station. The rest of the town's beaches, however, are closed to dogs.

What to know before you go

Outside this dedicated area, dogs are banned from the beaches of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin — it's worth clearly spotting the boundaries of the authorised zone on arrival to avoid any issue. Point worth flagging: one general-purpose source claims the western area is no longer authorised for dogs at all (the beach fully off-limits), while another source (emmenetonchien.com) instead confirms an on-leash reserved zone at the western end, consistent with what we state here. We can't settle this with certainty — it could reflect a recent change in the local bylaw: check on-site or with the town hall before travelling specifically for this.

News worth knowing (confirmed 09/11/2025): the town council terminated the contract of the private concessionaire that ran part of the Golfe Bleu beach (Cala Pulpo), after a sub-delegation ruled illegal, and no new tender can be organised before 2027. The beach should therefore stay fully public and freely accessible year-round in 2026, with lifeguard supervision in July-August — a change that could make the dog zone easier to access, but to confirm on-site since the situation has only just evolved. Another point found during further research: a second dog-reserved area reportedly exists in the town, the "plage de la Piscine", a strip of pebbles and concrete between the municipal pool and the road out towards Menton, described as exclusively reserved for dogs by a specialist source (plages.tv) — an alternative not yet verified in detail, which could get its own fiche in the future.

Coco's tip: Monaco, right next door, has no beach open to dogs anyway — so make the most of the Golfe Bleu before or after a walk through the Principality.

Nearby

The Menton cani-plage is just a few kilometres east, a good option if you're combining several Riviera spots in the same day.
