The vibe

Unlike beaches, trails aren't subject to the same time restrictions for dogs: the coastal trail that follows the coast from Cavalaire-sur-Mer to the Pointe du Dattier can be done at any time, on a leash. The path winds between Mediterranean scrubland and open sea views, with a few rocky sections that call for a bit of balance.

What to know before you go

The trail is shaded in places but stays exposed over long stretches — best avoided during the hottest hours in summer, for your dog's paws' sake. Bring water for the dog, as refill points are rare once you're past the start. Confirmed by Cavalaire town hall: the full route is 8 km (or a shortened 3 km version, consistent with the "1h30 round trip" given here), and crosses the protected Corniche des Maures massif, whose access is regulated from 21 June to 30 September because of fire risk (town hall Environment service: 04 94 00 11 54).

Coco's tip: I prefer walks early in the morning or late in the day in summer — the ground is cooler under my paws and the light on the sea is beautiful.

Nearby

The trail continues beyond the Pointe du Dattier towards La Croix-Valmer for the more motivated, or can be kept as a shorter round trip from Cavalaire for a relaxed outing.
