The vibe

A fine-sand cove split in two by a rocky point, with the Îles d'Or in the background. Canadel beach keeps a wild feel and stays on a human scale, away from the bustle of nearby Saint-Tropez — a genuinely good option for a quiet walk with your dog outside swimming hours.

What to know before you go

From 1 June to 30 September, dogs are not admitted on the beach between 8am and 7pm. Outside this summer period, or early in the morning / in the evening in summer, your dog can enjoy the sand and water with you. This rule is confirmed both by the Golfe de Saint-Tropez tourist office and by the town hall itself, which reminds owners every year in its municipal newsletter ("Carnets du Rayol-Canadel-Pramousquier") to follow hygiene rules and pick up after their dog; guide and assistance dogs remain allowed at all times.

Coco's tip: come in spring or autumn instead to have the beach almost to yourself — that's when Canadel is most pleasant with a dog.

Nearby

The Domaine du Rayol, a remarkable botanical garden nearby, does not allow dogs, even on leash — worth knowing if you're planning to stop there along the way. Pramousquier beach is 2 km away via the Voie Verte.
