The vibe
Les Esclamandes beach, on the way out of Saint-Aygulf towards Fréjus, is split into four zones: family, naturist, kitesurf, and dogs. The dog zone, called Argens beach, occupies the northern end, near the Villepey ponds. Some consider it one of the most dog-friendly beaches in the region, with no time restriction year-round.
What to know before you go
Update: the contradiction we expected to find in our sources has been resolved. Both of Fréjus's official pages — the tourist office's ("beaches for dogs") and the municipal ville-frejus.fr site's — describe this dog area, near the Argens lifeguard post, without ever mentioning a time restriction: access is presented as possible year-round, dog on a leash. A third-party (non-official) source claimed a "before 9am and after 7pm" window that we couldn't find in any official text — worth flagging if you ever see different signage on site. Either way, remember to bring a sunshade, water and poop bags — little equipment is available on site.
Nearby
Plage du Pacha, Fréjus's other official dog beach, is at the far end of the Base Nature — but not reachable on foot from here, as the Argens river mouth separates the two banks.
