The vibe
Between Saint-Tropez's two wildest beaches, this short stretch of coastal path skirts the rocky La Moutte headland, with views across the Gulf of Saint-Tropez to Sainte-Maxime on the far shore. Like the rest of the Var coastline, this path follows the route of the old "sentier des Douaniers", once walked by customs officers watching for night-time smuggling.
What to know before you go
The route between La Moutte beach and Les Salins beach is confirmed on OpenStreetMap, which specifically documents it as a "coastal path towards Château de la Moutte". Dogs on leash are welcome; on the beaches at either end, the same rule applies as on the rest of the town's beaches since the July 2026 municipal order — allowed from 6am to 9.30am and 6.30pm to 10pm, 16 July to 15 September. Further west, the coastal path continues (beyond the GPS route verified here) towards the bay of Canebiers, La Croisette and Cap du Pinet, all the way to Tahiti beach — a full loop of around 12 km described by the tourism site seesainttropez.com.
Nearby
On the La Moutte side, Chemin des Treilles de la Moutte connects to Route des Salins. On the Salins side, a free municipal shuttle serves Place des Lices in summer.
