The vibe
The 400 metres of sand at Plage des Marines de Cogolin offer a wide panorama over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, with two beachfront restaurants, a municipal water-sports base and a large car park nearby. This is the former Château Bertaud beach, now split between the towns of Cogolin and Gassin — this listing covers the Cogolin side, which the town hall calls "Plage des Marines".
What to know before you go
To keep swimmers and dog owners happy together in high season, Cogolin's town hall limits dog access (on a leash) to 7pm-1am (from 15 June to 15 October, per cross-checked sources) — swimming is then allowed at nightfall, without disturbing other beachgoers. The rest of the year, outside this summer window, the beach is open to dogs at any time. A dog-wash shower has been installed nearby to rinse your companion after swimming and remove sand before heading off. Walk your dog before reaching the beach, so it doesn't relieve itself on the sand.
Nearby
Les Marines de Cogolin also has a dog wash and several dog-friendly places to stay to round out a stay in the area.
